Venus Flytrap ‘B52’ is a popular and highly regarded carnivorous plant variety known for producing some of the largest traps within the species Dionaea muscipula. This variety develops wide, symmetrical traps with strong red coloration under bright light. Ideal for collectors, hobby growers, and indoor terrarium setups, the ‘B52’ type is well suited for warm, humid environments and thrives in nutrient-poor, acidic soils.

These seeds allow growers to cultivate Venus Flytraps from the earliest stages, making them suitable for propagation projects, botanical collections, and educational purposes. With proper care, seedlings gradually form robust rosettes capable of producing large traps as they mature. This variety performs well in outdoor bog gardens in suitable climates and in indoor controlled environments.

Key Features

• Large-trap Dionaea muscipula ‘B52’ variety
• Seeds suitable for terrariums, pots, and bog-style planters
• Develops strong red coloration in bright light
• Prefers nutrient-poor acidic soils such as sphagnum peat mixes
• Suitable for beginners with basic carnivorous plant care knowledge
• Good for indoor cultivation under grow lights

  • Plant Type: Carnivorous, perennial

  • Growth Habit: Compact rosette

  • Trap Size: Larger than standard Venus Flytrap varieties (when mature)

Planting Guide

  1. Use a sterile mix of sphagnum peat moss and silica sand (1:1 ratio).

  2. Moisten the soil using distilled or rainwater before sowing.

  3. Press seeds gently onto the surface without burying them; they require light to germinate.

  4. Maintain high humidity using a propagation dome or plastic cover.

  5. Keep temperatures between 22–28°C for consistent germination.

  6. Provide bright indirect light or a grow light for 12–14 hours daily.

  7. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, using the tray method.

  8. Once seedlings develop several leaves, gradually acclimate them to higher light levels.

  9. Avoid fertilisers; Venus Flytraps grow best in nutrient-poor soil.

  10. Use only distilled or rainwater for long-term care.

Not as soft as it looks
It’s like a hard ball with fur covering. My dogs want to play with it, but have a hard time picking it up. Sounds cool, tho! I wish it was more like a stuffed ball they could easily pick up and throw around

Would buy again
Size: Small Size
Puppy loves this ball. She managed to tear the fuzzy part open fairly quickly but once it was all the way torn the ball inside that makes the noise is as pictured and she can still play with it regardless of the fuzzy part being taken off. Easy to keep track of as it's a tad bigger than a softball. Puppy loves it and it keeps her entertained.

Great turned to not so great
My Doberman (80 pounds in 7 months) puppy absolutely loved this ball. He loves anything noise making so this ball was perfect. Unfortunately, about 2 hours of nonstop play the cover was falling apart. There was no saving in. My pup is rough on toys and this one couldn’t handle it. I let him play without the cover for a little bit but the plastic is VERY hard. I’m not sure what type of plastic it is, but it’s very hard, no your average plastic. It was clunking around and banging into everything possible. I would love to give it more stars as it might have been perfect for other dogs, or maybe I just got a dud. But having to take the ball away from him was almost heart breaking. Those sad puppy dog ever and him looking everywhere for it. Barking nonstop because, well he want his ball….and being a puppy he is still learning. Had the cover held up for even 24 hours it would have been great. So I have a sad puppy and a lighter pocketbook. It was fun while it lasted.
